About

Hey y'all!
My name is Megan and I am the creator behind Swamp & Bone.

I started S&B in 2020 with my one of a kind nature based electroformed jewelry. I started ceramics in 2021 and have since fallen in love with the medium.

My love of insects started with my first entomology class in college and has since continued through graduate school where I researched learning behavior in parasitic wasps, working in conservation for 6 years, and finally, through preserving dead insects for jewelry. I enjoy the process of pinning and preserving insects so it was a small jump to electroforming, which takes the bugs and covers them in copper.

My ceramics journey started with a beginners class in late 2021 when I left my conservation job. I instantly fell in love and have been working hard on improving both my wheel throwing and sculptural skills. My Meadow series is inspired by the bee surveys I conducted in my conservation job, where I spent days walking through Virginia meadows and wildflower fields sampling bees and other insects.
